The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), with funding support from the Visio Holistic Development Programme for Visually Impaired Children (HODVIC), successfully hosted a Stakeholder Conference at Miklin Hotel, East Legon, Accra, to disseminate the findings of a national monitoring exercise on the challenges faced by special schools in Ghana in supporting children with visual impairment.
The conference was held under the theme: "Enhancing Educational Opportunities and Social Inclusion for Children with Visual Impairment in Ghana: Findings from a National Monitoring Exercise."

The event brought together representatives from government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, school administrators, education practitioners, and other key stakeholders to review the findings of the monitoring exercise and engage in discussions on strengthening inclusive education in Ghana.

Presentations and discussions highlighted the significant challenges confronting special schools, including inadequate teaching and learning resources, limited access to assistive devices, infrastructural barriers, insufficient specialized teacher support, and the need for stronger policy implementation to promote equitable educational opportunities for children with visual impairment.

Stakeholders also shared recommendations aimed at improving access to quality education through increased investment in inclusive education, enhanced teacher capacity, improved learning environments, stronger collaboration among key actors, and sustained advocacy for the rights of children with disabilities.
Speaking at the conference, participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively to ensure that children with visual impairment are provided with the necessary support and opportunities to learn, participate, and thrive within Ghana's education system.

GNECC expresses its sincere appreciation to Visio HODVIC for funding this important initiative and extends gratitude to all participants and partners whose contributions made the conference a success. The Coalition remains committed to advocating for policies and interventions that promote equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every child in Ghana.
Together, we can build an education system where no child is left behind.
