The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) successfully convened a Learning Event on "From Curriculum Intent to Classroom Reality: Advancing Foundational Learning within Ghana's Standards-Based Curriculum." The event brought together a broad range of education stakeholders to reflect on the implementation of Ghana's Standards-Based Curriculum and identify practical pathways for improving foundational learning outcomes.
The event attracted participants from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Ghana Education Service (GES), the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), headteachers, teachers, students, development partners, and other key institutions within the education sector.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation and discussion of findings from the Breadth of Learning Opportunities (BOLO) research. Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and challenges associated with translating curriculum intentions into effective classroom practice, while exploring evidence-based strategies to strengthen curriculum implementation across the country.
The discussions emphasized the importance of collaborative action among policymakers, education practitioners, civil society, and communities to ensure that every child acquires strong foundational literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills. Stakeholders also shared experiences and best practices for improving teaching and learning, enhancing teacher capacity, and creating supportive learning environments.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to work collectively towards strengthening curriculum delivery and advancing equitable, quality, and inclusive education in Ghana. Recommendations from the discussions will contribute to ongoing advocacy and policy dialogue aimed at improving foundational learning and ensuring that the goals of the Standards-Based Curriculum are fully realized in classrooms across the country.
GNECC extends its sincere appreciation to all participants, partners, and stakeholders whose valuable contributions made the learning event a success. Together, we continue to champion education policies and practices that improve learning outcomes and transform the lives of Ghanaian children.
