The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), in partnership with Renel Ghana Foundation, successfully commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day with students of Achimota Basic School, reaffirming our shared commitment to promoting menstrual health, gender equality, and girls' education.
The event brought together students, teachers, education stakeholders, and facilitators for an engaging and informative session focused on menstrual health and hygiene. The commemoration provided a safe and supportive platform for open discussions on menstruation, enabling students to learn about menstrual health management, personal hygiene, and the importance of breaking the stigma associated with menstruation.
Through interactive presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and practical demonstrations, participants gained valuable knowledge and information to help them make informed decisions about their health and well-being. The sessions also encouraged open dialogue, helping to challenge misconceptions and foster a culture of understanding and support within the school community.
As part of the celebration, menstrual hygiene materials were distributed to students to support their menstrual health needs and help ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to their education. The initiative aimed to empower girls with both the knowledge and resources needed to manage their periods safely, confidently, and with dignity.

The event highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing period poverty and promoting menstrual equity. It also underscored the need for continued advocacy to ensure that all girls have access to accurate information, affordable menstrual products, adequate sanitation facilities, and supportive learning environments.
Speaking at the event, representatives from GNECC and Renel Ghana Foundation emphasized that menstruation should never hinder a girl's ability to attend school, participate in community life, or pursue her aspirations. They reiterated the organizations' commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being, confidence, and educational outcomes of girls across Ghana.

GNECC and Renel Ghana Foundation express their sincere gratitude to the management and staff of Achimota Basic School, the facilitators, volunteers, and all stakeholders whose contributions made the event a success.
Together, we continue to break the silence surrounding menstruation, challenge harmful stereotypes, and advocate for a society where every girl can manage her period with dignity, confidence, and pride.
Every girl deserves access to menstrual health information, products, and supportive environments that enable her to thrive.
